Just learnt that this ring of mine ("Futur Antérieur" / 1989) is now

a property of austrian artist

opening of the new
Unterlinden Museum extension
by Herzog & De Meuron
in Colmar/France
Surprises waiting for you in the new museum shop...
La Sphère de la Mélancolie is a concept-object based on Lucas Cranach Melancholy painting (1532)
The sphere is a 12mm hematite bead wearable on a red waxed coton thread
It goes back into a black cardboard box when not worn

Fragment is a double-tour leather bracelet with a textured steel part
My interest for textures echoes here the Museum extension architects Herzog & De Meuron's use of broken bricks

When the Unterlinden Museum proposed me to create pieces for their shop, one request was about an already existing piece from the Trésor des Trois Epis, a series of precious vessels and jewelry found by chance in 1864 near Colmar during the renovation of a chapel
Over 20 kg of gold and silver pieces were hidden in a copper cauldron
Among them I noticed a long silver ear pendant, the Schongauer Society president then commissioned me to propose a version for the shop
I reduced its size to make it more wearable and it became a pendant
I named it Tau (Tô), after the greek letter T
Originally it was worn by St Anthony pilgrims and the little bell was supposed to keep bad spirits away
My Tau pendant version is fine silver-plated bronze
The surfaces and shapes tell about time passing
